You know we love a good mystery here at The Most Radicalist, and Bailie has our detective sense twitching with her new song ‘Unaware’. The American musician doesn’t have any obvious social media links or juicy bits of information, other than her nationality and the humble statement - “tryna make music”. Bailie has a back catalogue of demos and cover songs dating back four years, and so she’s not exactly new to the online music community, but for us ‘Unaware’ is where this artist has grabbed our attention. With the glitchy electronic beats, spacey synths and Bailie’s pensive vocals, there’s almost a Canadian dream-pop aura to this song, we’re thinking of artists like Beach House or Dizzy. We say almost, because the stuttered production puts this artist in a category of her own, electronic-heavy, making the most of of lucious pop melodies and her sweet voice, but with a unique approach to production. Throughout the track, Bailie plays with tempo, chopping and layering her vocals, colliding the beats and synths, and yet keeping control over the song’s progression and heartbroken narrative. We may have very little idea about who Bailie is, but ‘Unaware’ is a promising effort. - Hannah Thacker
